With the swine flu running rampant, many people are worried about catching it. The news and media have created a firestorm of press about the H1N1 virus and there is definitely a fear in the general public about the disease. Many people don't know that the swine flu only kills less than 0.1% of the people the contract the virus. This is in line with the amount of people that die from contracting a regular old flu or cold bug.

There are things you can do to help prevent catching the swine flu. One of the most important things to do is get enough sleep. Don't let your body get run down by only sleeping 2 or 3 hours a night this could be disastrous to your overall health. Also, keep your hands clean by washing them as often as possible. You really can't wash your hands enough, it's one of the best things you can do for your overall health. Hospitals everywhere have adopted a practice of putting hand sanitizers in almost every room so that people can wash up prior to dealing w/ patients. This has helped dramatically slow the spread of infectious diseases in hospitals like staph and MRSA - which can be very deadly when combined with other underlying issues.

Eat right and your body will thank you. Many people eat too much fast food and processed foods that don't help your body recover and fight off infections. If you eat vegetables and fruits and take the necessary vitamins your body can remain strong and combat what is attacking it.
